           "Nodoubtofit,"saidPeterkin,laughing.

           "AndsupposeIweretowritetheaccountinaletterinsteadoftellingyouinwords,wouldthatbelessuseful?"

           "Wellno,perhapsnot."

           "Well,supposeIweretoprintitandsendittoyouintheformofabook,woulditnotbeasgoodandusefulasever?"

           "Oh,bother!Jack,you’reaphilosopher,andthat’sworsethananything!"criedPeterkinwithalookofpretendedhorror.

           "Verywell,Peterkin,weshallsee,"returnedJack,haltingundertheshadeofacocoa-nuttree."Yousaidyouwerethirstyjustaminuteago.Nowjumpupthattreeandbringdownanutnotaripeone;bringagreen,unripeone."

           Peterkinlookedsurprised,butseeingthatJackwasinearnest,heobeyed.

           "Nowcutaholeinitwithyourpenknifeandclapittoyourmouth,oldfellow,"saidJack.
