           Thiswasallwehad,andbesidesthesethingswehadnothingelse;butwhenwethoughtofthedangerfromwhichwehadescaped,andhowmuchworseoffwemighthavebeenhadtheshipstruckonthereefduringthenight,wefeltverythankfulthatwewerepossessedofsomuch,although,Imustconfess,wesometimeswishedthatwehadhadalittlemore.

           Whilewewereexaminingthesethingsandtalkingaboutthem,Jacksuddenlystartedandexclaimed:

           "Theoar!Wehaveforgottentheoar!"

           "Whatgoodwillthatdous?"saidPeterkin."There’swoodenoughontheislandtomakeathousandoars."

           "Ay,lad,"repliedJack;"butthere’sabitofhoop-ironattheendofit,andthatmaybeofmuchusetous."

           "Verytrue,"saidI;"letusgofetchit."Andwiththatweallthreeroseandhasteneddowntothebeach.Istillfeltalittleweakfromlossofblood,sothatmycompanionssoonbegantoleavemebehind;butJackperceivedthis,and,withhisusualconsiderategood-nature,turnedbacktohelpme.ThiswasnowthefirsttimethatIhadlookedwellaboutmesincelanding,asthespotwhereIhadbeenlaidwascoveredwiththickbushes,whichalmosthidthecountryfromourview.Aswenowemergedfromamongtheseandwalkeddownthesandybeachtogether,Icastmyeyesabout,andtrulymyheartglowedwithinmeandmyspiritsroseatthebeautifulprospectwhichIbeheldoneveryside.Thegalehadsuddenlydiedaway,justasifithadblownfuriouslytillitdashedourshipupontherocks,andhadnothingmoretodoafteraccomplishingthat.
