Heresea-birdshadalighted,littlepiecesofseaweedandstraybitsofwoodhadbeenwashedup,seedsofplantshadbeencarriedbythewind,andafewlovelybladesofbrightgreenhadalreadysprungup,which,whentheydied,wouldincreasethesizeandfertilityoftheseemeraldsofOcean.Atotherplacestheseisletshadgrownapace,andwereshadedbyoneortwococoa-nuttrees,whichgrewliterallyinthesand,andwereconstantlywashedbytheoceanspray—yet,asIhavebeforeremarked,theirfruitwasmostrefreshingandsweettoourtaste.
Again,atthistimeJackandIponderedtheformationofthelargecoralislands.Wecouldnowunderstandhowthelowoneswereformed;butthelargerislandscostusmuchconsideration,yetwecouldarriveatnocertainconclusiononthesubject.
Havingsatisfiedourcuriosity,andenjoyedourselvesduringthewholedayinourlittleboat,wereturned,somewhatwearied,andwithalratherhungry,toourbower.

Aswedraggedourboat,weobservedthatshegratedheavilyonherkeel;andasthesandswereinthisplacemingledwithbrokencoralrocks,wesawportionsofthewoodbeingscrapedoff.
