           Inthebedroom,offthefrontroom,wasCarrie’strunk,boughtbyDrouet,andinthewardrobebuiltintothewallquiteanarrayofclothing—morethanshehadeverpossessedbefore,andofverybecomingdesigns.Therewasathirdroomforpossibleuseasakitchen,whereDrouethadCarrieestablishalittleportablegasstoveforthepreparationofsmalllunches,oysters,Welshrarebits,andthelike,ofwhichhewasexceedinglyfond;and,lastly,abath.Thewholeplacewascosey,inthatitwaslightedbygasandheatedbyfurnaceregisters,possessingalsoasmallgrate,setwithanasbestosback,amethodofcheerfulwarmingwhichwasthenfirstcomingintouse.Byherindustryandnaturalloveoforder,whichnowdeveloped,theplacemaintainedanairpleasingintheextreme.
