           Hehadenteredtheroomwithproprietyandgrace,andhewasperfectlydressed;henotonlydidnot“falldownontheslipperyfloor,”ashehadexpressedit,butevidentlymadeaveryfavourableimpressionupontheassembledguests.

           Asforhisownimpressiononenteringtheroomandtakinghisseat,heinstantlyremarkedthatthecompanywasnotintheleastsuchasAglaya’swordshadledhimtofear,andashehaddreamedofinnightmareformallnight.
