           Surelyhecouldnotgosofarasthat,andyet,sowellhadheknownlongbeforethis,fromtheconversationoftheseyouths,thatonsuchoccasionsasthistheydiddrink,thathedidnotseehowhecouldverywellholdback.Whatwouldtheythinkofhimifhedidn’tdrinksomething?Foreversincehehadbeenamongthem,hehadbeentryingtoappearasmuchofamanoftheworldastheywere.Andyetbackofhim,ashecouldplainlyfeel,layalloftheyearsinwhichhehadbeendrilledinthe"horrors"ofdrinkandevilcompanionship.Andeventhoughinhisheartthislongwhilehehadsecretlyrebelledagainstnearlyallthetextsandmaximstowhichhisparentswerealwaysalluding,deeplyresentingreallyasworthlessandpointlesstheragamuffincrewofwastersandfailureswhomtheywerealwaysseekingtosave,still,nowhewasinclinedtothinkandhesitate.Shouldheorshouldhenotdrink?
