           ForClyde,althoughheconsideredhimselftobedeeplyinlovewithRoberta,wasstillnotsodeeplyinvolvedbutthatanaturallyselfishandambitiousandseekingdispositionwouldinthisinstancestanditsgroundandmasteranyimpulse.Andhewasdeterminedtotaketheattitudeofonewhohadbeeninjuredandwasdeterminednottobefriendsanymoreoryieldinanywayunlesssomeconcessiononherpart,suchaswouldappeasehim,wasmade.
