AndRoberta,perpetuallyconsciousofClyde’seyes,aswellashismood,wasthinkinghowlongitwouldbebeforehewouldcomearoundwithsomewordinregardtosomething.Forshewishedhimto—andbecauseofhiswhisperedwordsofthedaybefore,shewassurethatitwouldnotbelong,becausehewouldnotbeabletoresistit.Hiseyesthenightbeforehadtoldherthat.Yetbecauseoftheimpedimentsofthissituationsheknewthathemustbehavingadifficulttimethinkingofanywaybywhichhecouldsayanythingtoher.Andstillatcertainmomentsshewasglad,forthereweresuchmomentswhenshefeltsheneededthesecuritywhichthepresenceofsomanygirlsgaveher.

Andyetnowandinthefaceofallherveryurgentdesiresshehesitated,forthiswouldtakeherdirecttoClydeandgivehimtheopportunityhewasseeking.
