           ItisimpossibletodescribethesensationsexperiencedbyValentineduringtheminuteandahalfMadamedeVillefortremainedintheroom.Thegratingagainstthelibrary-doorarousedtheyounggirlfromthestuporinwhichshewasplunged,andwhichalmostamountedtoinsensibility.Sheraisedherheadwithaneffort.
