           Chateau–Renaudwasathispost;apprisedbyBeauchampofthecircumstances,herequirednoexplanationfromAlbert.TheconductofthesoninseekingtoavengehisfatherwassonaturalthatChateau–Renauddidnotseektodissuadehim,andwascontentwithrenewinghisassurancesofdevotion.Debraywasnotyetcome,butAlbertknewthatheseldomlostasceneattheopera.Albertwanderedaboutthetheatreuntilthecurtainwasdrawnup.
