           Danglarswasbalancinghismonthlyaccounts,anditwasperhapsnotthemostfavorablemomentforfindinghiminhisbesthumor.Atthefirstsightofhisoldfriend,Danglarsassumedhismajesticair,andsettledhimselfinhiseasy-chair.Morcerf,usuallysostiffandformal,accostedthebankerinanaffableandsmilingmanner,and,feelingsurethattheoverturehewasaboutmakewouldbewellreceived,hedidnotconsideritnecessarytoadoptanymanoeuvresinordertogainhisend,butwentatoncestraighttothepoint.
