           Theshadowmovedwiththesun,butshenevermovedfromhisside,excepttowaituponhim.Thesunwentdownandshewasstillthere.Shehaddoneherworknow,andherhand,falteringonthearmofhischairsinceitslasttendingofhim,washesitatingthereyet.Helaidhishanduponit,anditclaspedhimwithatremblingsupplication.

           ‘DearMrClennam,ImustsaysomethingtoyoubeforeIgo.Ihaveputitofffromhourtohour,butImustsayit.’

           ‘Itoo,dearLittleDorrit.IhaveputoffwhatImustsay.’

           Shenervouslymovedherhandtowardshislipsasiftostophim;thenitdropped,trembling,intoitsformerplace.
