Ilookedatthegiftinsomesurprise,foritconsistedofsixwhitewhale’steeth,andtwoofthesamedyedbrightred,whichseemedtomeverypaltrythings.However,Ididnotdaretohesitate,ortoaskanyquestions;sogatheringthemup,Ileftthecabin,andwassoononmywaytothechief’shouse,accompaniedbyBill.Onexpressingmysurpriseatthegift,hesaid:
"They’repaltryenoughtoyouorme,Ralph,butthey’reconsideredofgreatvaluebythemchaps.They’reasorto’cashamongthem.
