           Onreachingitwefound,toourgreatreliefofmind,thattheforceofthewavehadbeenexpendedjustbeforereachingthebower;buttheentrancetoitwasalmostblockedupbythetorn-upbushesandtangledheapsofseaweed.Havingsatisfiedourselvesastothebower,wehurriedtothespotwheretheboathadbeenleft;butnoboatwasthere.Thespotonwhichithadstoodwasvacant,andnosignofitcouldweseeonlookingaroundus.

           "Itmayhavebeenwashedupintothewoods,"saidJack,hurryingupthebeachashespoke.Stillnoboatwastobeseen,andwewereabouttogiveourselvesovertodespairwhenPeterkincalledtoJackandsaid:

           "Jack,myfriend,youwereoncesoexceedinglysagaciousandwiseastomakemeacquaintedwiththefactthatcocoa-nutsgrowupontrees.Willyounowbesogoodastoinformmewhatsortoffruitthatisgrowingonthetopofyonderbush?forIconfesstobeingignorant,oratleastdoubtful,onthepoint."

           Welookedtowardsthebushindicated,andthere,tooursurprise,beheldourlittleboatsnuglynestledamongtheleaves.Wewereverymuchoverjoyedatthis,forwewouldhavesufferedanylossratherthanthelossofourboat.Wefoundthatthewavehadactuallybornetheboatonitscrestfromthebeachintothewoods,andtherelauncheditintotheheartofthisbush,whichwasextremelyfortunate;forhaditbeentossedagainstarockoratree,itwouldhavebeendashedtopieces,whereasithadnotreceivedthesmallestinjury.Itwasnoeasymatter,however,togetitoutofthebushanddowntotheseaagain.
