           "There,lads,theboat’sfinishedatlast!Sowe’venothingtodonowbutshapetwopairofoars,andthenwemayputtoseaassoonaswelike."

           Thispieceofnewsthrewusintoastateofgreatjoy;foralthoughwewereawarethattheboathadbeengraduallygettingnearitscompletion,ithadtakensolongthatwedidnotexpectittobequitereadyforatleasttwoorthreeweeks.ButJackhadwroughthardandsaidnothing,inordertosurpriseus.

           "Mydearfellow,"criedPeterkin,"you’reaperfecttrump!Butwhydidyounottellusitwassonearlyready?Won’twehaveajollysailtomorrow,eh?"

           "Don’ttalksomuch,Peterkin,"saidJack;"and,pray,handmeabitofthatpig."

           "Certainly,mydear,"criedPeterkin,seizingtheaxe."Whatpartwillyouhave?Aleg,orawing,orapieceofthebreastwhich?"

           "Ahindleg,ifyouplease,"answeredJack;"and,pray,besogoodastoincludethetail."

           "Withallmyheart,"saidPeterkin,exchangingtheaxeforhishoop-ironknife,withwhichhecutoffthedesiredportion."I’monlytooglad,mydearboy,toseethatyourappetiteissowholesale,andthere’snochancewhateverofitsdwindlingdownintoretailagainatleast,insofarasthispigisconcerned.
