           OnopeningittoletLittleDorritout,shefoundMrPancks,insteadofhavinggonehisway,asinanylesswonderfulplaceandamonglesswonderfulphenomenahemighthavebeenreasonablyexpectedtodo,flutteringupanddownthecourtoutsidethehouse.ThemomenthesawLittleDorrit,hepassedherbriskly,saidwithhisfingertohisnose(asMrsAfferydistinctlyheard),‘Pancksthegipsy,fortune-telling,’andwentaway.‘Lordsaveus,here’sagipsyandafortune-tellerinitnow!’criedMistressAffery.‘Whatnext!’

           Shestoodattheopendoor,staggeringherselfwiththisenigma,onarainy,thunderyevening.
