           ‘WhereIlittlethought,Heavenforgiveme,’saidClennamtohimself,‘thatIshouldeverenterthus!’

           MrChiverywasontheLock,andYoungJohnwasintheLodge:eithernewlyreleasedfromit,orwaitingtotakehisownspellofduty.Bothweremoreastonishedonseeingwhotheprisonerwas,thanonemighthavethoughtturnkeyswouldhavebeen.
