Theriverwascrossed.Thelittlecompanyfoundthemselvesalmostwithoutprovisions,thirty-fivemilesfromDelegete,inthemidstoftheunknowndesertsoftheVictoriafrontier.Neithersettlersnorsquattersweretobemetwith;itwasentirelyuninhabited,unlessbyferociousbushrangersandbandits.
Theyresolvedtosetoffwithoutdelay.Mulradysawclearlythathewouldbeagreatdragonthem,andhebeggedtobeallowedtoremain,andeventoremainalone,tillassistancecouldbesentfromDelegete.
