           Cowperwoodsmiledhishearty,genialsmile.Hewasfeelingverycomfortableunderthisevidenceofapproval.Helookedbrightandcheeryinhiswell-madeclothesofEnglishtweed.

           Onthewayhomethateveninghespeculatedastothenatureofthisbusiness.Heknewhewasn’tgoingtostaytherelong,eveninspiteofthisgiftandpromiseofsalary.
