           "Yes,"Martinanswered. "Iseenaghost. Goodnight. Goodnight,Gertrude." 

           Hestartedtoleavetheroom,trippingoveralooseseamintheslatternlycarpet. 

           "Don’tbangthedoor,"Mr.Higginbothamcautionedhim. 

           Hefeltthebloodcrawlinhisveins,butcontrolledhimselfandclosedthedoorsoftlybehindhim. Mr.Higginbothamlookedathiswifeexultantly.
