           Ourmindswerealsoverymuchexhaustedinconsequenceofthemanysurprises,frequentalarms,andmuchprofoundthoughttowhichtheyhadbeensubjected;sothatwhenwelaydown,onthenightofourreturn,undertheshelterofthebower,wefellimmediatelyintoverydeeprepose.Icanstatethiswithmuchcertainty;forJackafterwardsadmittedthefact,andPeterkin,althoughhestoutlydeniedit,Iheardsnoringloudlyatleasttwominutesafterlyingdown.Inthisconditionweremainedallnightandthewholeofthefollowingdaywithoutawakingonce,orsomuchasmovingourpositions.Whenwedidawakeitwasnearsunset,andwewereallinsuchastateoflassitudethatwemerelyrosetoswallowamouthfuloffood.AsPeterkinremarked,inthemidstofayawn,wetookbreakfastattea-time,andthenwenttobedagain,wherewelaytillthefollowingforenoon.

           Afterthiswearoseverygreatlyrefreshed,butmuchalarmedlestwehadlostcountofaday.Isayweweremuchalarmedonthishead;forwehadcarefullykeptcountofthedays,sincewewerecastuponourisland,inorderthatwemightremembertheSabbath-day,whichdaywehadhitherto,withoneaccord,keptasadayofrest,andrefrainedfromallworkwhatsoever.However,onconsideringthesubject,weallthreeentertainedthesameopinionastohowlongwehadslept,andsoourmindswereputatease.

           WenowhastenedtoourWaterGardentoenjoyabathe,andtoseehowdidtheanimalswhichIhadplacedinthetank.
