Butthiswasnottheworstofit.ItcameoutthatthewholeofthebackofthecoachhadbeentakenbyafamilyremovingfromLondon,andthattherewerenoplacesforthetwoprisonersbutontheseatinfrontbehindthecoachman.Hereupon,acholericgentleman,whohadtakenthefourthplaceonthatseat,flewintoamostviolentpassion,andsaidthatitwasabreachofcontracttomixhimupwithsuchvillainouscompany,andthatitwaspoisonous,andpernicious,andinfamous,andshameful,andIdon’tknowwhatelse.Atthistimethecoachwasreadyandthecoachmanimpatient,andwewereallpreparingtogetup,andtheprisonershadcomeoverwiththeirkeeper—bringingwiththemthatcuriousflavorofbread-poultice,baize,rope-yarn,andhearthstone,whichattendstheconvictpresence.
