           "Indeed!"thoughtPorthos,castingaglanceatthethreehungryclerksfortheerrandboy,asmightbeexpected,wasnotadmittedtothehonorsofthemagisterialtable,"inmycousin’splace,Iwouldnotkeepsuchgourmands!Theylooklikeshipwreckedsailorswhohavenoteatenforsixweeks."

           M.Coquenardentered,pushedalonguponhisarmchairwithcastersbyMme.Coquenard,whomPorthosassistedinrollingherhusbanduptothetable.Hehadscarcelyenteredwhenhebegantoagitatehisnoseandhisjawsaftertheexampleofhisclerks.
