           Theywereallbusy,busyatsomething,workinghard,workingharderthantheywouldhavedreamedpossibleinthedaysbeforethewar.Theyweren’tdoingwhattheywantedtodoperhaps,orwhatwaseasiesttodo,orwhattheyhadbeenrearedtodo,buttheyweredoingsomething.Timesweretoohardformentobechoosy.Andiftheyweresorrowingforlosthopes,longingforlostwaysofliving,nooneknewitbutthey.Theywerefightinganewwar,aharderwarthantheonebefore.Andtheywerecaringaboutlifeagain,caringwiththesameurgencyandthesameviolencethatanimatedthembeforethewarhadcuttheirlivesintwo.
