           AndFrankcouldn’ttellthemaboutthedogsandthecats.Ladiessetsuchastorebypets.Butthethousandsofstarvinganimals,lefthomelesswhentheirmastershadbeensorudelyevacuated,hadshockedhimalmostasmuchasthecemetery,forFranklovedcatsanddogs.Theanimalshadbeenfrightened,cold,ravenous,wildasforestcreatures,thestrongattackingtheweak,theweakwaitingfortheweakertodiesotheycouldeatthem.And,abovetheruinedtown,thebuzzardssplotchedthewintryskywithgraceful,sinisterbodies.
