           Andhelponeanother.”Andsotheydid;Harrywasascleveratstable-workasamucholderboy,andalwayswantedtodowhathecould.ThenPollyandDollyusedtocomeinthemorningtohelpwiththecab—tobrushandbeatthecushions,andrubtheglass,whileJerrywasgivingusacleaningintheyard,andHarrywasrubbingtheharness.Thereusedtobeagreatdealoflaughingandfunbetweenthem,anditputCaptainandmeinmuchbetterspiritsthanifwehadheardscoldingandhardwords.Theywerealwaysearlyinthemorning,forJerrywouldsay:

           “Ifyouinthemorning

           Throwminutesaway,

           Youcan’tpickthemup

           Inthecourseofaday.

           Youmayhurryandscurry,

           Andflurryandworry,

           You’velostthemforever,

           Foreverandaye.”

           Hecouldnotbearanycarelessloiteringandwasteoftime;andnothingwassonearmakinghimangryastofindpeople,whowerealwayslate,wantingacabhorsetobedrivenhard,tomakeupfortheiridleness.

           Onedaytwowild-lookingyoungmencameoutofatavernclosebythestand,andcalledJerry.
