           “Carrie,”hesaid,lookingintoherfaceandassumingaseriouslookwhichhedidnotfeel,“supposeIweretocometoyounextweek,orthisweekforthatmatter—to-nightsay—andtellyouIhadtogoaway—thatIcouldn’tstayanotherminuteandwasn’tcomingbackanymore—wouldyoucomewithme?”Hissweetheartviewedhimwiththemostaffectionateglance,heranswerreadybeforethewordswereoutofhismouth.
