           HenryMorelandStanley,theAmerican,almostimmediatelysucceededtheEnglishman,Cameron,ontheroadofdiscoveries.WeknowthatthisintrepidcorrespondentoftheNewYorkHerald,sentinsearchofLivingstone,hadfoundhimonOctober30th,1871,atOujiji,onLakeTanganyika.Havingsohappilyaccomplishedhisobjectforthesakeofhumanity,Stanleydeterminedtopursuehisjourneyintheinterestofgeographicalscience.
