           ‘Ishouldnothavesupposedhimtobeveryfreewithhismoneyeither,’Iobserved.

           ‘Pardonme!’saidMr.Micawber,withanairofconstraint,‘IspeakofmyfriendHeepasIhaveexperience.’

           ‘Iamgladyourexperienceissofavourable,’Ireturned.

           ‘Youareveryobliging,mydearCopperfield,’saidMr.Micawber;andhummedatune.

           ‘DoyouseemuchofMr.Wickfield?’Iasked,tochangethesubject.

           ‘Notmuch,’saidMr.Micawber,slightingly.‘Mr.Wickfieldis,Idaresay,amanofveryexcellentintentions;butheisinshort,heisobsolete.’

           ‘Iamafraidhispartnerseekstomakehimso,’saidI.

           ‘MydearCopperfield!’returnedMr.
