           ‘Isheindeed?’saidMr.Dick.

           ‘Andhe’slikeDavid,too,’saidmyaunt,decisively.

           ‘HeisverylikeDavid!’saidMr.Dick.

           ‘ButwhatIwantyoutobe,Trot,’resumedmyaunt,‘-Idon’tmeanphysically,butmorally;youareverywellphysicallyis,afirmfellow.Afinefirmfellow,withawillofyourown.Withresolution,’saidmyaunt,shakinghercapatme,andclenchingherhand.‘Withdetermination.Withcharacter,Trotwithstrengthofcharacterthatisnottobeinfluenced,exceptongoodreason,byanybody,orbyanything.That’swhatIwantyoutobe.That’swhatyourfatherandmothermightbothhavebeen,Heavenknows,andbeenthebetterforit.’

           IintimatedthatIhopedIshouldbewhatshedescribed.

           ‘Thatyoumaybegin,inasmallway,tohavearelianceuponyourself,andtoactforyourself,’saidmyaunt,‘Ishallsendyouuponyourtrip,alone.Ididthink,once,ofMr.Dick’sgoingwithyou;but,onsecondthoughts,Ishallkeephimtotakecareofme.’

           Mr.Dick,foramoment,lookedalittledisappointed;untilthehonouranddignityofhavingtotakecareofthemostwonderfulwomanintheworld,restoredthesunshinetohisface.
