           Shewaslimpwithhorror;butstiffenedherselftomakeadartatme,andtakeitoutofmyarms.Then,sheturnedfaint;andwassoveryillthattheywereobligedtogivehercherrybrandy.Iwassolemnlyinterdictedbyher,onherrecovery,fromtouchingmybrotheranymoreonanypretencewhatever;andmypoormother,who,Icouldsee,wishedotherwise,meeklyconfirmedtheinterdict,bysaying:‘Nodoubtyouareright,mydearJane.
