           Earlyoneevening,strugglingwithasonnetthattwistedallawrythebeautyandthoughtthattrailedinglowandvaporthroughhisbrain,Martinwascalledtothetelephone. 

           "It’salady’svoice,afinelady’s,"Mr.Higginbotham,whohadcalledhim,jeered.
