           Themonkshadnolongeraninstantofrepose.Bydaytheydidnothingbutascendanddescendthestepswhichledtothechapel;atnight,inadditiontocomplinesandmatins,theywerefurtherobligedtoleaptwentytimesoutoftheirbedsandprostratethemselvesontheflooroftheircells.
