           "Idon’tseehowyourparentscanletyougo,Aileen;butyou’recertainlywelcomehereaslongasyouwanttostay,andthat’sforever,ifyouwantto."AndMrs.Calliganbeamedonherwelcomingly.TheideaofAileenButleraskingtobepermittedtocomehere!Andthehearty,comprehendingmannerinwhichshesaidthis,andMamie’senthusiasm,causedAileentobreatheasighofrelief.ThematteroftheexpenseofherpresencetotheCalliganscameintohermind.
