           Itwasnotalwayspossibletofilltheorderswiththestockonhand,andsomebodyhadtogointothestreetortheExchangetobuyandusuallyhedidthis.Onemorning,whenway-billsindicatedaprobableglutofflourandashortageofgrainFranksawitfirsttheelderWatermancalledhimintohisofficeandsaid:

           "Frank,Iwishyouwouldseewhatyoucandowiththisconditionthatconfrontsusonthestreet.Byto-morrowwe’regoingtobeovercrowdedwithflour.Wecan’tbepayingstoragecharges,andourorderswon’teatitup.We’reshortongrain.Maybeyoucouldtradeouttheflourtosomeofthosebrokersandgetmeenoughgraintofilltheseorders."

           "I’dliketotry,"saidhisemployee.
