           Cowperwood,nowthatshehadgonethusfarandcompromisedherselfinintention,ifnotindeed,tookonapeculiarcharmforher.Itwasnothisbodygreatpassionisneverthat,exactly.Theflavorofhisspiritwaswhatattractedandcompelled,liketheglowofaflametoamoth.Therewasalightofromanceinhiseyes,which,howevergovernedandcontrolledwasdirectiveandalmostall-powerfultoher.
