ButsuchthoughtsandvisionsdidnotpreventhimfromfollowingProfessorCaldwellclosely. Andashefollowed,comprehendinglyandcritically,henotedtheunbrokenfieldoftheother’sknowledge. Asforhimself,frommomenttomomenttheconversationshowedhimgapsandopenstretches,wholesubjectswithwhichhewasunfamiliar. Andwhenhedidcatchit,heleapttoequalityatonce.
Ruthcameuptothemasecondtime,justasMartinbegantospeak.
