           "Grimaudcantakecareofthehorses,"saidPlanchet."Ifyouarewilling,gentlemen,Iwillsleepacrossyourdoorway,andyouwillthenbecertainthatnobodycanreachyou."

           "Andonwhatwillyousleep?"saidd’Artagnan.

           "Hereismybed,"repliedPlanchet,producingabundleofstraw.

           "Come,then,"saidd’Artagnan,"youareright.Minehost’sfacedoesnotpleasemeatall;itistoogracious."

           "Normeeither,"saidAthos.

           Planchetmountedbythewindowandinstalledhimselfacrossthedoorway,whileGrimaudwentandshuthimselfupinthestable,undertakingthatbyfiveo’clockinthemorningheandthefourhorsesshouldbeready.
