However,thecourseoftheLoualabawasexploredasfarastheAtlantic;andiftheNileisthegreatarteryoftheNorth,iftheZambesiisthegreatarteryoftheEast,wenowknowthatAfricastillpossessesintheWestthethirdofthelargestriversintheworld—ariverwhich,inacourseoftwothousand,ninehundredmiles,underthenamesofLoualaba,Zaire,andCongo,unitesthelakeregionwiththeAtlanticOcean.
