           HeassumedaveryunknowingairwheninthepresenceofBereniceandhermother,butwhenalonewiththelatterhismannerchangedcompletely.

           "Brazenitout,"hecommanded."Itdoesn’tamounttoanything.Braxmardoesn’tbelievethatthismanreallyknowsanything.ThisletterisenoughtoconvinceBerenice.Putagoodfaceonit;moredependsonyourmannerthanonanythingelse.You’remuchtooupset.Thatwon’tdoatall;you’lltellthewholestorythatway.
