Knowinghowuselessregretsare,andhowtheindulgenceofsentimentonlyservestomakepeoplemoremiserable,Mrs.Rebeccawiselydeterminedtogivewaytonovainfeelingsofsorrow,andborethepartingfromherhusbandwithquiteaSpartanequanimity.IndeedCaptainRawdonhimselfwasmuchmoreaffectedattheleave-takingthantheresolutelittlewomantowhomhebadefarewell.
