           Theyoungmanremainedimmovable.

           Miladytriedtoopenthedoorinordertothrowherselfout.

           "Takecare,madame,"saidtheyoungman,coolly,"youwillkillyourselfinjumping."

           Miladyreseatedherself,foaming.Theofficerleanedforward,lookedatherinhisturn,andappearedsurprisedtoseethatface,justbeforesobeautiful,distortedwithpassionandalmosthideous.
