Towardsseveninthemorningthepositionwasnolongertenablebythecolonists,whoaccordinglytookshelterinthebordersofJacamarWood.Notonlydidtheprojectilesbegintorainaroundthem,butthelava,overflowingthebedofRedCreek,threatenedtocutofftheroadtothecorral.Thenearestrowsoftreescaughtfire,andtheirsap,suddenlytransformedintovapor,causedthemtoexplodewithloudreports,whileothers,lessmoist,remainedunhurtinthemidstoftheinundation.
