Inthecenterofthelakealongcigar-shapedobjectfloatedonthesurfaceofthewater,silent,motionless.Thebrilliancywhichissuedfromitescapedfromitssidesasfromtwokilnsheatedtoawhiteheat.Thisapparatus,similarinshapetoanenormouswhale,wasabout250feetlong,androseabouttenortwelveabovethewater.
