Theperimeterofthecorralwasthentracedbytheengineer,andtheywouldthenhaveproceededtofellthetreesnecessaryfortheconstructionofthepalisade,butastheopeningupoftheroadhadalreadynecessitatedthesacrificeofaconsiderablenumber,thosewerebroughtandsuppliedahundredstakes,whichwerefirmlyfixedintheground.
