           Whentwoo’clockarrivedtheprofessionalreed-drawerstossedoffthelasthalf-pintintheirflagon,putdowntheirhooks,tiedtheirlastsheaves,andwentaway.MarianandIzzwouldhavedonelikewise,butonhearingthatTessmeanttostay,tomakeupbylongerhoursforherlackofskill,theywouldnotleaveher.Lookingoutatthesnow,whichstillfell,Marianexclaimed,“Now,we’vegotitalltoourselves.”Andsoatlasttheconversationturnedtotheiroldexperiencesatthedairy;and,ofcourse,theincidentsoftheiraffectionforAngelClare.
