           "Youwillseeherthisevening,"answeredMrs.Fairfax. "IhappenedtoremarktoMr.RochesterhowmuchAdelewishedtobeintroducedtotheladies,andhesaid: ‘Oh!lethercomeintothedrawing-roomafterdinner;andrequestMissEyretoaccompanyher.’" 

           "Yes;hesaidthatfrommerepoliteness:Ineednotgo,Iamsure,"Ianswered. 

           "Well,Iobservedtohimthatasyouwereunusedtocompany,Ididnotthinkyouwouldlikeappearingbeforesogayapartyallstrangers;andhereplied,inhisquickway ‘Nonsense!Ifsheobjects,tellheritismyparticularwish;andifsheresists,sayIshallcomeandfetchherincaseofcontumacy.’" 

           "Iwillnotgivehimthattrouble,"Ianswered. "Iwillgo,ifnobettermaybe;butIdon’tlikeit.Shallyoubethere,Mrs.Fairfax?" 

           "No;Ipleadedoff,andheadmittedmyplea. I’lltellyouhowtomanagesoastoavoidtheembarrassmentofmakingaformalentrance,whichisthemostdisagreeablepartofthebusiness.
