           ItisnottheobjectofthisworktogiveadescriptionofDerbyshire,norofanyoftheremarkableplacesthroughwhichtheirroutethitherlay; Oxford,Blenheim,Warwick,Kenilworth,Birmingham,etc.aresufficientlyknown. AsmallpartofDerbyshireisallthepresentconcern. TothelittletownofLambton,thesceneofMrs.Gardiner’sformerresidence,andwhereshehadlatelylearnedsomeacquaintancestillremained,theybenttheirsteps,afterhavingseenalltheprincipalwondersofthecountry; andwithinfivemilesofLambton,ElizabethfoundfromherauntthatPemberleywassituated. Itwasnotintheirdirectroad,normorethanamileortwooutofit. Intalkingovertheirroutetheeveningbefore,Mrs.Gardinerexpressedaninclinationtoseetheplaceagain. Mr.Gardinerdeclaredhiswillingness,andElizabethwasappliedtoforherapprobation.
