           AtravellerwhoshouldwalkandobserveanyofthesevisitantsasVennobservedthemnowcouldfeelhimselftobeindirectcommunicationwithregionsunknowntoman.Hereinfrontofhimwasawildmallard—justarrivedfromthehomeofthenorthwind.ThecreaturebroughtwithinhimanamplitudeofNorthernknowledge.Glacialcatastrophes,snowstormepisodes,glitteringauroraleffects,Polarisinthezenith,Franklinunderfoot—thecategoryofhiscommonplaceswaswonderful.
