           InMay,thedoctorattemptedasecondreconnoissanceoftheRovouma;then,attheendofNovember,heenteredtheZambeziagain,andsaileduptheChireagain.InApril,1863,helosthiscompanion,Thornton,sentbacktoEuropehisbrotherCharlesandDr.Kirk,whowerebothexhaustedbysickness,andNovember10th,forthethirdtime,hesawNyassa,ofwhichhecompletedthehydrography.ThreemonthsafterhewasagainatthemouthoftheZambezi,passedtoZanzibar,andJuly20th,1864,afterfiveyears’absence,hearrivedinLondon,wherehepublishedhisworkentitled:"ExplorationoftheZambezianditsBranches.
